Kiwi medals at New South Wales State Championship 2025

Two of our top NZ-based wrestlers flew to Australia to compete at the NSW State Champs, the biggest wrestling event of 2025 in Sydney on 8th February. 170 wrestlers challenged each other with both Kaige Brown (KWA) and Cole Hawkins (Tawa Tigers) medalling.

Kaige had a strong pool in the Senior Men Freestyle 65kg and came out on top to win gold.

Cole had 14 fighters in his pool for the Senior Men Freestyle 74kg and won three rounds to make it to the final. He lost 10 - 7 and took home the silver medal.

Also congratulations to the Australian-based Kiwi's who took part, Tayla Ford taking out the gold for Senoir Women Freestyle 76 kg against fellow Kiwi Mikhaila Howse. And Jack Wise who took out silver for the U18 Mens Freestyle 65kg.
